Who to draft in a basketball fantasy league? (best answer gets da maximum points)?
In such a big head to head your best bet is to pick one or two categories to give up so you can draft a team that dominates in the other categories. As long as you dominate in the majority of the categories you will win every week, whereas a more balanced team will be more subject to the luck factor of who your opponent is and what teams their players are facing. For example Dwight Howard can give you top 5 value if you give up on FT% and he may be available in the second round.

Some sleepers to look out for in such a deep draft are

Joe Johnson - freak accident caused him to miss time last year but never missed a game before that and 100% healthy, will go later than he should.

Caron Butler- puts up monster numbers in the Wizards offense (a la Larry Hughes 3 years ago) but nobody ever wants to take him so he lasts longer than he should.

Kevin Martin- Doesn't get a lot of hype but can put up Ray Allen type numbers.

Ricky Davis- Free agent year means big numbers on bad team but make sure to trade him before the deadline as the Twolves will likely move him for the second half.

Corey Maggette- See Davis above.

Andrea Bargani- Will gain Center elgibility

Elton Brand- people will forget about him cause he is hurt, make sure you don't. Could return for big numbers a la pau Gasol last year.

Luis Scola- Adelman means more fantasy value all around (think the 90's Kings) and Scola should thrive in such a system.

Mike Dunleavy- I hate him, but so does everyone else and in a 16 team league he will be solid late pick especially in Jim O'brien's system.

Josh Childress- top 75 roto talent but gets no love cause he plays off the bench.

Joel Pryzbilla- Don't ask me why but think he may have value in the last rounds of a 16 team league if you play him in four game weeks for the blocks and boards. He appears to have beaten out Frye for the starting job.

Eddie Curry- Only if you are giving up on FT% otherwise not even in a 20 team league.

Others to keep an eye one

Tyrus Thomas, Travis Outlaw, Al Thorton, Jeff Green, Luke Walton, Jason Maxiell, Acie Law, Al Horford and Nick Collison
Reply:Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Dirk, Nash, Pierce, T. Chandler, Kobe, KG, Wade, Rip Hamilton, B. Wallace, B. Gordon, E. Brand, T. Duncan, T. Parker

Sleeper: Mo Pete - playing for new team, wide open offense in NOLA, and CP3 gets everyone involved. He should get lots of open looks, average 14 ppg with lots of 3's.
Reply:Go pick up a Fantasy Basketball draft magazine. It will help you out a lot more than people can tell you on here.
Reply:First of all, Good luck with 15 others playing against you. Anyway, G and F are usually deep, so there are still quality players to fill the void in later rounds, so if you miss one, don't worry about it. In this case, I'm projecting on a round by round basis, so here it goes...

1) PG Steve Nash: Forwards seem to be the obivous choice in the first round, but goes against the ethics and draft someone who can carry this team and I believe that Nash is that guy. He's not the flashiest but he is one of the safest pick in the first round.

2) SF Gerald Wallace: With J-Rich in town, he's not expected to carry this team anymore but still remains one of the best overall player still underrated, but don't let him out of your sight.

3) C Dwight Howard: A double-double on a consistent basis, the arrival of Rashard Lewis is expect to take pressure out of Howard and see him as the best big man around.

4) PG Tony Parker: Another player that's not flashy but still gets his stats when it counts the most.

5) SG Richard Hamilton: A scorer only but still the best value in this round.

6) C Andrew Bogut: His skill is on a rise, as he is profound to be the next Divac.

7) PF Zach Randolph

8) SF Corey Maggette

9) G Randy Foye

10) G Rajon Rando

11) F Andrea Bargnani

12) F Corey Brewer

13) F Yi Jianlin

You can decide on the last two rounds but I'm basically giving a realistic look at players you can take, giving the amount of teams playing in this league and there not guarenteed to last that long in certain rounds, so be cautious when drafting.

Here are some sleepers that I like this season:

- Tyrus Thomas, Chicago: When are they going to give this kid playing time? First it was P.J. Brown that was starting in front of him and now Joe Smith. Sooner or later, Skiles is going to realize that Thomas has that Tyson Chandler potential in him.

- Daniel Gibson, Cleveland: Even the King needs help? Gibson ease some pressure off from LeBron during the playoffs when Larry Highes couldn't get the job done and now he projected to get the PG position, which means decent numbers.

- Mike Conley, Jr., Memphis: If your looking for a Chris Paul-type of season for a discount, look no further than this year 4th pick. Conley is expected to take the PG job from Stoudamire with youth being built around Gasol and could compete w/ Durant as ROTY.

- Marco Belinelli, Golden State: Your asking why did I put his name on? He's an unknown to most but Don Nelson is apparently a big fan of his and Nelson is working the offense towards him that Monta Ellis (only 6'3) might be regulated to the bench again backing up the G position.
