Fantasy baseball?
Your pitching is by far your greatest strength and you should leave that alone, but 2b/SS and catcher are weak points on your squad. I would try to trade for bj upton at 2nd or Stephen Drew/Yunel Escobar atSS, and realistically the only catcher i see you possibly upgrading to is Kenji Johjima.

For right now i would focus on the upton deal.

Just my Opinion
Reply:Nice team. I would keep it how it is until the season starts. If some of your players arent doing so great, thats when i would trade of sign someone else. But for now i think your team is good. Im liking the 3 sox players too.

What do you think of my 12 team fantasy draft on MockDraftCentral?
I would consider trading some OF talent for some Relief Pitching. You have a lot of guys with a lot of upside, but not a lot of proven talent, like B.J. Upton and Jacoby Ellsbury. I would lock in Holliday, Baldeli and Cabrera in your outfield and then dangle some of the other guys around.

Also, as a Diamondbacks Fan, be careful about Valverde. He has a nasty habit of being Amazing one year, and Awful the next. Looks like it's an awful year year.

Sell Brad Penny high at the all star break, and you should be ok.

I give it 6/10.
Reply:i give it a 5 out of 10
Reply:Not bad, you should see if you can get a little more power in your outfield, either through free agency or a trade. Good Luck this year!!
Reply:i give it a 4 out of 10.
Reply:Why do you have Chris Duncan on your team? You should get Pujols at first instead of Berkman. Otherwise, nice team.

How does my newly drafted Fantasy Baseball team look?
You got so much value throughout the draft, but then I see Jeter as a fourth rounder - ugh. Other than that, you did relatively well.

I usually don't grab a pitcher until round 8 or so like you did here, and I do okay on the pitching side. I wouldn't listen to people saying your staff is weak, it will be fine.
Reply:It looks good so far, but you could have the best team if a guy like Jered Weaver wins 18 games and continues with his breakout performance, Figgins is great, Sizemore will be the best performer for the Tribe and Lee is sick also, be sure you keep your eye out on the waivers to pick up pitchers who will be a steal in the beginning weeks of the season.
Reply:hate it

It has jeter

i hope jeter dies
Reply:YEAH....THE PITCHING IS IFFY...THE BATS ARE SOLID THOUGH....ID MOVE LEE RIGHT NOW BEFORE ANOTHER INJURY!!
Reply:So where is all this great pitching?

It's not bad, and if you are in a 5x5 league, you will probably get strikeouts and wins most every week, but you ERA might suffer and your bullpen is potentially very shaky.

The rest of your team is great though.
Reply:your team is alright, but my concern is that your pitching is a coin toss. all of your pitching consists of inconsistent pitchers who in recent past have had a couple good seasons at best. Jeter and Derek Lee will provide a steady offense.
Reply:10 team, i see why its a little saturated with talent, ur bats are nice but gonna need some arms, I would keep one of ur starting OF's on the trade block for another ace cuz Cust could have a 25-30 HR, 100 RBI season, dont sleep on pitching, u need atleast 2 aces, ur relief is good....

Im aware I sacrificed HRs and RBIs for pitching

Rate this draft compared to the so-called experts who think this team will rank 12 out of 12 teams.?
you went for pitching way to early, and paid for it in your offense, you might get to make a few solid trades for power with your pitching, i'd say you'll be on the bubble for playoffs with this squad
Reply:in my league i pick up pitchers every week to win wins and strike outs. i draft three solid closers to win saves. and draft mostly big bats. i think your pitching will have to be terriffic for your team to have a chance.
Reply:The problem for me isn't just the HRs and RBIs. Who is going to boost the BA with players that drain it like Sexson, LaRoche, and Jones? I wouldn't expect a 36 year old catcher to repeat a .330 batting preformance. Posada is a very good catching option but the early 7th may have been a bit of a reach.

You will have to do some shrewd trading or this team might be 12 of 12. You have plenty of saves to trade. However I don't think that only four pitchers will be enough to put up the win and K totals to make up for the offense. Pedro and Pettite are on the backside of their careers and that worries me as much as you really are relying on them.
Reply:I think you answered your own question. You sacrificed power for pitching. The deal is, you shouldn't have to sacrifice power. You'll need to find a solution for using Sexson and LaRoche at 1B, and Fields at 3B. You'll be at a big disadvantage on the corners. One option is to flip a closer for a 1B in a trade, then pick up a closer later in the season. You might even trade one of your star pitchers if you find that your balance is really uneven.

Good luck,

Let me say now that you probably have no chance in turnovers because of all the playmakers you have. That's good though, I pretty much abandon turnovers and take the guys that get the ball in their hands more often than others...

You can probably catch up in blocks, but you have to realize that you can't compete in every category.

I would try to get a three-point shooter, or add a couple of them them from free agency because that is a category that can be easily caught up in. Trading Kidd however will deal you a blow to assists, so I would focus on trading for a solid shot blcoker/rebounder and look to free agency and pick up some guys who have made a lot of three point field goals.
Reply:I wouldn't do anything right now, you have a good team.

Reply:u already have martin back so there is no need to keep roy no offense hes a great player but gives u the same stats as martin yes try trading roy %26amp; crawford for camby if that doesnt work try getting chandler hes a great rebounder and a good shot blocker dont trade kidd youll need him u have no one else thats gives u ast.

Let me know what you think.

How did I do in my first Fantasy Baseball draft of the year?
It's about a B-, probably pretty good for a deep league.

You are hurting for steals. In general your offense looks solid, both for average and power. You have some very workhorse starters, but you aren't going to light up the ERA category.

I like that you didn't take any major injury risks. Solid utility guys...

Not too shabby. See how it rolls for the first week or two, then look to shore up pitching and get better in stolen bases. I think you have a lot to work with here.
Reply:that is a unbelivible team for 12 man league, wow

u got great players in every position

i dont know what to say

i wish i ahd that team for my 10 team league!

ur definatly a title contendor!
Reply:your offense is fine... your starting pitching is questionable, also your relief pitchers are spotty. Isringhausen has hip surgery last year, i wouldn't release him yet, but he was off last year and is older player. Gordon also could have a great year, but could miss time due to injury or be replaced. Keep an eye on the free agent list... see who will be the closers for other teams (surprises or someone gets hurt. Good extra starters are hard to find... injuries happen throughout the year, just stay on top of it.
Reply:I have definetly seen worse, I have actually drafted worse. My concerns would be steals and saves. I wonder what spot you selected from....by looking D. Wright was your 1st selection. Although he has potential I usually go with Vlad or Berkman before him. If your in a H2H league you should do ok.

EXPERTS HELP NEEDED!!! Baseball moves help?
I would trade either Marquis or Meche (or both). Both are pitching well in their new environments but once the weather and hitters heat up, their "career years" will tank. I'd sell them high now and try to get a better pitcher. I'd also trade away Benitez for a different closer. Look at his career stats, he has had injury year after year and its only a matter of time before the same happens again.

As for your offense, I'd look for guys like Hunter Pence, Kevin Youkilis, Carlos Guillen and the like. They are typically available and are great fill-ins at the very least. They will do enough to help you and not a whole lot to hurt you (should you decide to cut them, etc.). I'm not sure what is available on the waivers in your league but look for guys with high batting averages that do a fair job contributing in most other categories as well. These are the types of players that you will benefit from without risking a lot to your stats.
Reply:u got halladay thats good...but hes DL!!!

okay im the king at making trades....i would put a package deal for a package deal!!!!

maybe furcal, lowry and meche for hanley ramirez and ted lilly or a common pitcher....try that

hanley ramirez is only gonna get u more steals but u need need need need to get rid of meche hes not so good and he plays for the royals lmao!!! dude i think its a good one!!!
Reply:garland gets my vote as a cut. i have a hard time doing trades so i usually build throgh FA list.

of players who may be available i suggest you look for, hunter pence OF stros, victorino, OF phils, willits, (or wiltis) OF angels. ALSO you may see if you can get bobby abreu on the cheap in a trade. that is if you think he will bounce back as i do. chone figgins isnt hitting his weight either but went 2 fer last night witha double and may be warming up, so maybe you could trade for him cheap...gl with it!
Reply:imo....Trade Victor Martinez for Michael Barrett C CUBS (very underratted player)...then try to Trade Bonser/Garland/ Lowry for John Maine SP NYM (going to win a lot as the mets are nasty) and or Cole Hamles SP Philly (tons of Ks and great WHIP, K/BB)

Who to trade JJ Hardy for?

I want to trade JJ Hardy while he's still hot but I can't get anyone to do a trade.

3B Álex Rodríguez (NYY - 3B)

SS Derek Jeter (NYY - SS)

Roto, 12 man league. Stat categories are R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, CG, SHO, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

I'm first in the league and want to get a stud pitcher.

Who to trade JJ Hardy for?
Maybe sell high with Shields too and package them together. But if I were you I'd try and get someone to take Santana or Wang. If you really think Hardy's gonna go south, you wouldn't be giving up too much to trade both for one guy. Smoltz is pitching well and getting support. Haren and Peavy are definite studs. The trouble is there aren't many people who are willing to part with stud pitchers, and many people think similarly that J.J.'s headed for a tumble. I can't get rid of him in my league where he's stuck not playing cause I got Reyes. Maybe think about trading Jeter, or even dropping Torres or Santana for someone on waivers, like Fausto Carmona or Claudio Vargas. Both guys have great peripheral numbers and look like they can keep it up all year. Stay away from Marquis or J. Sosa though.
Reply:You can get a stud pitcher for him. Such as Oswalt or Arroyo. But if you're gonna trade Hardy, sell HIGH. Oh, and since you're in first, I wouldn't make any changes to your starting lineup unless you start to see a downfall.
Reply:Better idea, unless you can somehow get Jose Reyes to fill his SS position, hold onto him and ride him to ur league championship. I'm from Wisconsin and there is no end in sight for this guy, he was injured nearly all last year so he didn't get a chance.
Reply:you should be able to acquire an SP for him. I would imagine a #3 starter would be fair for someone hurting in the SS slot.
Reply:You won't gert a stud for Hardy - everyone is aware how he has never stayed healthy and is also streaky historically. And if you have someone the caliber of Lewis in your UTIL slot, your team isn't as good as you think it is. Being in 1st place in a roto league any time prior to August 1st means nothing. I have been dead last with mid-June coming and won a roto league going away. Don't be arrogant about your place in the standings - it will come back and bite you square in the ****.

Should I do this deal?
I would say no. I mean, I think Delmon Young's going to have a breakout year and even if he wasn't, I wouldn't trade him for Monroe. I think Brett Myers would be an upgrade at SP. If I were you I'd look to improve at 2B before I swapped reserve outfielders. And you can find decent starting pitchers all over the place without giving up Burnett and Millwood.
Reply:It wouldn't make much of a difference.Go for it anyway
Reply:Probably, go for it.
Reply:i would say flip a coin....pretty even trade.....but if its a keeper league than "no" because of young's potential. hudson and burnett have injury problems and millwood is over the hill, so that leaves monroe for young. young is an up and coming player while monroe is a very good 4th outfielder for your team. good luck
Reply:it is a fair trade, but i dont know how much it will improve your team. the players involved are pretty much within the same talent range. you do need some 2B help though!

These are the types of players that you will benefit from without risking a lot to your stats.

maybe furcal, lowry and meche for hanley ramirez and ted lilly or a common pitcher....try that

of players who may be available i suggest you look for, hunter pence OF stros, victorino, OF phils, willits, (or wiltis) OF angels.

Reply:i would say flip a coin....pretty even trade.....but if its a keeper league than "no" because of young's potential. hudson and burnett have injury problems and millwood is over the hill, so that leaves monroe for young. young is an up and coming player while monroe is a very good 4th outfielder for your team. good luck
Reply:it is a fair trade, but i dont know how much it will improve your team. the players involved are pretty much within the same talent range. you do need some 2B help though!

pitching is not real strong either after your first two starters.

Use your offensive bench to gain some more pitching. Try putting Thomas and Ensberg together to get a pitcher like Brett Meyers or Aaron Harang. If you can't get someone on that level, try a bit lower tier player like Chris Capuano or Dave Bush. If that fails, drop a couple of your bench players and pickup the best available FA pitchers. Try to pick up another closer, too.
Reply:You have a lot of power and potential for big numbers, but you also have a very Fragile Lineup (Johnson, Giambi, Gordo, Thomas, Ramirez) Sell those guys high for some more versatile and stable players.
Reply:you have a decent team, but your outfield is a little weak...

I'd give your team a 7.5/10...

good luck
Reply:Good power with Ortiz, Thomas, and Ramirez, not too good on speed with exception of Figgins(who I like because of his eligability on positions). Matsuzaka should have a good 1st year as most Japanese pitchers to, but Johnson is questionable with his form.

Greg maddux for scott podsednik?
With the team that you have, you can afford to lose Posednik for Maddux to your benefit. Yes, Posednik will get you some steals, but not like he used to. Also, you've got plenty of SB's already on your team between Roberts and Figgins alone (even though Figgins will be out for five weeks).

Maddux is coming to the twilight of his career. He's not going to get you absurd amounts of K's, true, but he will give you some quality starts and sprinkles of wins, which is a weaker category of yours, sorry to say. Based on the other SP's you have, he's not going to hurt your team ERA

/WHIP much either.

Other observations:

You can afford to lose Biggio in a trade or to waivers. I say this because you are NEVER going to bench Utley unless he gets hurt (highly unlikely) or he has a day off. Even if Utley does have a day off, Biggio does not warrant a spot on your team given the options you already have at 2B, namely Figgins when he comes back. That doesn't mean that he doesn't have value for someone else, though. See who has what 2B's and if Biggio is better than what the other manager has, throw a trade his way with maybe one of your pitchers for a better, more solid SP than you have.

The HR/RBI totals are not looking too promising. Most of your power hitters have injury histories. Trading two average players for one good player will help you a lot. Most managers look at total numbers in trades. Keep this in mind.

This is ultimately YOUR team, however, and these are just my words of opinion and research. Whatever you decide to do, good luck to you this year.
Reply:take maddux
Reply:I wouldnt do it. maddux is a bit older and not as good. He is playing in SD which is good but you can get more for Podsednik Especially if someone wants to get steals. I would maybe try maddux for Roberts.
Reply:This is not the move for you. While Greg Maddux is certainly a good pitcher and will rack up a solid sub-four ERA in San Diego this season, he no longer strikes out any batters. You will be able to find plenty of pitchers on the waiver wire that will put up similar numbers as Maddux will. Podsednik provides you with an incredible amount of steals, which you do not want to give away so readily. For a old pitcher playing for a second tier team, Maddux is not the most sought after pick-up.
Reply:your team is very good. Take the trade. You need a solid pitcher and it is good to have more pitchers because pitchers play every 6 days and not every day like batters do. besides you all ready have good OF like magglio and willingham.
Reply:Do it Podsednik is strictly a speed player and due to aging he is losing it.

lol i see you learned from last time i left an answer and grabbed ya self a couple of closers ...lol..good work there...smart man to learn from ya mistakes

okay lets go player by player

c- barret is always a good choice offensivly he seems to produce every year as well as an catcher can besides the obvious(mauer, mcann, martinez)

1b- lee ....well um i really expect a tremendous season on him to pick up where he left off beforebeing hurt ...i wouldnt be surprised by 30+ homers/110rbis/.300 and steal ya 20

2b- cano has a tremendous natural stroke and will contend for batting titel this year in al....could possibly break 100 rbi mark and some of those doubles will turn into homeruns soon enough

3b- rolen will never regian all star form but reliable at a deep position

ss- micheal young is one of those studs who performs in all categorys or just about all categorys...hes one who will hit 20/90-100/.300+ and score ya alot of runs as well good all around player

of- vladdy ...what can i say lol? always a homer threat but can be streaky at times but i would take that risk seeing as he can absolutely smash a ball and go on these rediculous streaks hitting 10 homers in like 13 games

of- adam dunn has raw power but he has a god awful average i expect that to rise as he is learning plate discipline this spring and is almost always a lock for 40 homers

of- cuddyer is a great player who is overlooked alot ...he will get ya 20+hrs/100+rbis/.290 and steal 5 or so... hitting between mauer and morneau is always a plus for a young hitter like himself

util- hafner is an absolute beast..i expect him to contend for 50 homers this year at jacobs field in that young but really good lineup out in cleveland.

bn- markakis is a great kid who had a breakout year last year and i expect him to reproduce those same numbers with a bit more pop and more rbis but average wil hang around.300 again

bn- kinsler is someone who can turn into brian roberts given time but a bit more pop in the bat then roberts(barring roberts 2005 season when he went nuts and hitting everything thrown at himlol) good pick overall

bn- peralta had the worst sophmore slump out of all of them last year but i expect him to be back with a vengance hitting almost everything in site hitting about 15-20hrs average power for a ssand drive in close to 100 hitting around .290 as well

bn- kearns wont have as much power as his potential seeing as he is hitting in a cavernous rfk stadium

pitching

rp- bj ryan is an absolute lights out closer could record around 40 saves this year with an era around 1 which is great maybe even a bit under 1

p- lackey is underrated when it comes to the k category..he is a strikeout machine most of the team will rack up 16 wins and k 200 good pick

rp- putz had a great year last year but we shall wait and see if it was a fluke i would like to think not because he has electric stuff but its possible

p- cain is going to be an ace im telling you now...he can really rack up the innings and k's when healthy can be lightsout good pick

p- hamels is young and improving none stop he made a vow to be the ace and he could damn well be it lol...he can k around 180 and win ya 14 games with an era around 3 and a half if healthy

p- burnett if he can return to nl form which i think he will cna be awesome at times but erradic at others expect an era around 4 and 15 wins and around 200ks seeing as he can really dial it up when need be......

bn- valverde will really surpirse some people and could save over 30 if healthy

ok bro your lineup could use an injection of speed besides lee and hes a first baseman you got almost no speed...if you want to pick up some speed on the waiver wire look for chris duffy, kenny lofton, willy taveras, or dave roberts if possible....a couple of sleeper hitters in general who you might want to look into for a kearns would be adrian gonzalez, jonny gomes, ty wigginton, or a chris duncan who i am really high on...overall your lineup is stacked with power and averages spread throughout the entire lineup and i wouldnt fret about your lineup

as for your rotation your pitching is stacked with some strikeout pitchers and you have 3 good closers 1 great actualyl if you want a couple of sleeper pitchers you should really look into a chuck james, adam wainswright, ian snell, jeremy sowers, or a clay hensley if you feel you could use more depth at the starting rotation.

hope i helped

goodluck and have fun bro
Reply:I agree with the earlier sentiment that you have too many offensive bench players. You pitching is a little weak, so I would make a package deal, perhaps Dunn and Cano for a stud pitcher. You are already strong on offense, so you can afford to lose a little there so that you can better your pitching. With Markakis and Kinsler, you have guys with huge upside, who might make it so that you don't lose much by playing them in place of Dunn and Cano, anyway. I would have no more than 2, and preferably only one bench offensive player.
Reply:thats a great team, i dont know how many people are in your league but if its 10 or over you had an A for the draft in my opinion
Reply:nice offense. i like it a lot. only problem is that rolen is old and might not produce that much and dunn strikes out a lot and has a bad avg. too many bench batters, are you really going to bench kinsler for cano? are you going to bench peralta for young? NO of course not, thats why you stockpile on pitching because they dont pitch everyday which means you can start more of them which builds up your stats. pitching is nice though add more depth to it.

i say A-
Reply:B.

You have a soild defense but your pitching staff is shaky. Lackey and Ryan are the only pitchers that is almost a certain they will do well. The rest are question marks. Will Burnett bounce back from his injury last season? Putz, Cain and Hamles are OK at best last year. I would consider trading for another Ace pitcher if your pitching is lacking after a few weeks.
Reply:You definitely have a great offensive team, but you lack steals. You might win 4 of the batting categories. Your pitching is ok. Starting pitching is decent, but you need one more pitcher. Lackey is good for K's and 14 wins. Cain and Hamels are good, but still young. AJ Burnett is fragile. Your closers are ok, probably need one more. BJ Ryan and JJ Putz are good closers, maybe give you 33 to 37 saves each give or take. Valverde plays for a bad team, so who knows maybe 25 saves. You might be able to win it all.

I give you a B.
Reply:NICE, A+
Reply:Great team except put Nick Markakis in for Adam Dunn. Markakis is going to have an AMAZING season and Dunn strikes out WAY too much. Otherwise, you're set. I give your team an A.
Reply:A++, WOW YOU ARE LOADED, BUT I LIKE JOSE REYES AND EDGAR RENTERIA AS MY SS....

Your thoughts on Ervin Santana?
Does your league have an innings limit? If it is the Yahoo 1250 innings rule, I would drop him like a bad habit.
Reply:NO NO NO!!! he is not worth a start every 2-3 weeks. thats just holding up a spot on your roster. and its not even good just because he did well at home and does bad on the road. he will eventually not do well at home too, just because he doesn't do well on the road, it will eventually flow on home. hope this helps.

EXPERTS HELP NEEDED!!! Baseball moves help?
Dont worry about USCfan, he's obviously under the impression that starting pitchers pitch every day. Hmm, it depends who is in your waiver pool, if nobody good is there, keep ur pitchers for now, the first guy u should drop if u happen to see a pitcher that catches ur eye, is Lowry or Garland, both are in my waiver pool at the moment in the same type of league. U could prolly fetch a high price for one of ur SS, renteria is too talented for the bench, so try and trade him for a 3b (ryan freel just doesnt cut it). Dont be afraid to deal Uggla if the opportunity presents himself, he is way overrated. By the looks of it, u could use some more power in ur outfield too. Well, i hope i helped, and good luck!! (unless of course u happen to be in one of my leagues, in which case i just shot myself in the foot, lol)
Reply:why do you have dan haren on the bench for a guy like bonser?

try picking up oliver perez from waivers. He'll get you alot of strikeouts and he is on a good team so get you some wins. I would try trading away renteria cuz you already have Furcal, and a pitcher for a better thirdbase. Possibly David Wright. He's getting hot right now.
Reply:Try picking up Kelly Johnson, 2B for the Braves. He is hitting great this year, and most likely can be taken off free agency. Also try J.J. Hardy, who was/is leading the NL in homers.

Benitez and Bonser will probably blow up by years end. Try getting Hudson, Linscomb, or Phil Hughes, rookie for the Yankees.
Reply:i would try to trade roy halladay for jake peavy he is lights out right now
Reply:Honestly, I would get rid of Garland from your staff, he seems like the worst option you have at the moment. He has less than spectacular numbers and doesnt belong on your staff. I guess if Phil Hughes is available, maybe pick up a guy like him. Or like others have said, Oliver Perez is a great pickup, although I highly doubt he is there.

And also, anyone else from the A's pitching staff, like Gaudin or Blanton are good pickups for a few starts if you need that. Both are pitching well.

Jason Marquis and Jack Cust are both overrated. Each will fan out by midseason, you should definitely trade them while they are both hot. Marquis has been known to struggle after the all-star break, and Cust just isn't what people make him out to be. Trade both while their value is still sky high.

Freel might be the best choice you have for 3B, unless you try and trade for one. FA 3b's arent that deep it seems, freel will be your best choice.

You could buy low on Ryan Zimmerman, who is soon gonna come out of his slump, he already pretty much has. People have been frustrated with him, and will probably be willing to give him up for cheap.

Also, as other people have said, renteria is way too good to be sitting on your bench. The way he is hitting, he should be good enough to be in anyone's starting lineup. Use him as trade bait as well to get an OF better than Willingham.

Your staff is very solid as it is, but I dont think Garland deserves a spot on your staff.

Use marquis, renteria and cust as trade bait to get a talented 3b or OF that you need. Maybe try and package them for a guy like Carlos Lee or a Vernon Wells

Fantasy trade for k-rod?

I'm way behind in my league(roto) in saves and most other pitching categories and am looking to trade for another closer. Theres a guy that isn't doing good in the hitting categories that has K-Rod on his team. So I thought could give up some offense to trade for him. I'm leading all the hitting categories except runs and SB. What would be a fair trade? Other suggestions?

Fantasy trade for k-rod?
honestly, you have nobody that is expendable that can be dealt for k-rod straight up. I would search the free agents for a sleeper (if Jeremy Accardo is available, go get him) or make a package deal with that guy for K-Rod.
Reply:I would try Howard for K-Rod but keep if not try picking up Accardo for Toronto or I think Tankersley will be the next closer for Florida and if Dotel is available try getting him because he'll close for KC when he gets healthy.

Put Konerko at utility and bench Philips. You need to also find a way to trade for a pure power hitter since you only have 1 and that's Konerko, who is on the bench. Bay will hit a fair share and so will Utley but you need a guy who can hit 35+ HRs. Maybe try trading for Troy Glaus at 3rd Base you will ahve to trade one of your better players though possibly a starting pitcher. I would also try to get one more closer or middle relief pitcher who will help lower your teams ERA such as Al Reyes, David Aardsma or the Okajima guy from the Red Sox bullpen.
Reply:why?? you're fine at 1B... Konerko will heat up, Helton will hit .320+ ...

I agree bench Phillips, get Konerko in lineup - dump (or trade if you can) Wigginton .... maybe you can get a backup OF

You're relievers are fine ... Coco Cordero is solid and Izzy will rack up the saves when the Cards start winning.

which 3B are available as free agents? it's a deep position, might still be able to get one
Reply:9 u need some better closers put in konerko and bench helton and try and trade helton you might be able to get someone good in return
Reply:Might be light on saves, especially if Isringhausen gets hurt as he usually does.

Other than that, I like the team. Definitely wouldn't leave Konerko on the bench much longer. He's good for 35/100 and it's only a matter of time before he heats up.

i think ur lying, cuz only an idiot would trade Jake Peavy... hes a Cy Young Candidate
Reply:One sentance answer: MAKE THAT TRADE. Peavy is one of the best RPs in baseball.
Reply:I would take Peavy in a heartbeat
Reply:You already have good pitcher in felix hernandez. I would'nt trade him.
Reply:I would go for that trade!
Reply:This trade is good for you, perhaps too good. If I had a vote in a league, I think I would vote it down. Torres had a great series against the astros (my beloved team) but they also made Shawn Chacon look great, a guy that they (worst offense ever last year) scored 10 runs in one inning off of last season. Take Peavy in a heartbeat, but you're really getting away with one.

Edit: Xavier Nady ALWAYS starts hot. Keep that in mind while you're selling high.
Reply:How can you even debate that trade? I see that you have amazing pitching and you could really use some more hitting, but Peavy is a star and you have 3 other all-star caliber closers.

Would you make this deal?
Don't do the deal!

You have no depth at 1b beyond Derek. Wes Helms is a 3b so that doesn't help you as you have a stud in Miggy Cab there already.

Carlos Zambrano is no doubt a huge upgrade over Kevin Millwood, but the fact that you aren't getting a 1b in return makes the deal pointless.

If you're looking to upgrade your pitching, look at the waiver wire really hard. By the looks of your team, this appears to be a shallow league so there should be a few decent options on the waiver wire.
Reply:CONS:Is Helms a 1st baseman??? Even if he is, Lee is due for a good season after last yrs injury. Zammy will be great, but Millwood is not bad either.

Pros: you have at least 5 players who can hit 20+homers if u do trade Lee. Helms can hit 20+ also.(if he plays 1st. if not. U need a replacement.) Zammy willl get u 17-22 wins w/ a lot of Ks and Millwood pitches in a hitters park.

I would do the trade.
Reply:i know your pitching is weak, but helms vs. lee is not even worthing comparing. dont' do it, unless you get a better hitter back. millwood may make you sick to yoru stomach, but he is the # 1 guy, with decent era and a tremendous offense helping him out...

I'm a little concerned about my closers, but I have a good balance of power and speed in my lineup.

How well did I draft?
Pretty good, I can't believe Utley lasted that long. And then they let you have Wright on the way back. O-Cab and Molina were wasted picks, neither are wothy of a fantasy spot and you need those bench spots. Melky and Shealy are emergency Waiver Wire adds only and shouldn't occupy a bench spot.

A couple of players that get missed that may help you. Garrett Anderson, he was forgotten and I have picked him cheap in almost every league - you might want to move fast on this one, he is now on the front page of Yahoo, MLB. And he can provide some solid power and RBI numbers (25HR's and 100RBI), use him instead of Melky as a back up. Chris Duncan in St Louis qualifies at 1B and can be a decent backup or alternative to LaRoche. He hit 22 HR's last year in 91 games playing part time and could produce 40 this year as a full time player. Especially if Edmonds is injured, Duncan may occupy the 5 spot in the lineup and have a huge upside on RBI's. He cannot hit LHP, so only play him in games against RHP - he hits over .300 against RHP and LaRussa plans to only start him against RHP although he may still pinch hit if a RHP reliever enters a game started by a LHP. Get rid of Molina or Shealy to make the move.

Colon will start the season on the DL and may not pitch in April so he will open up a pitching spot on opening day when he qualifies for you to put him in a DL position.

Until then drop Molina or Shealy and pickup Zumaya as your insurance for Todd Jones, someone in your league may have already done this so your other options for potential closer should be Broxton, R. Soriano, M Gonzalez...... and are ready for this one? D Turnbow - the guy was one of the top vote getters for the Allstar team last year and then fell apart. But F Cordero is shaky at times and the Brewers still look at Turnbow as their closer of the future and want to get him back on the saddle and working at his previous high level. Last year he was a draft choice up there with K-Rod, Mariano and Nathan. If he can get the job back and correct his mental problems he could again be one of those elite closers this year.

You can sometimes find Jason Jennings or Fernando Nieve available after the draft in smaller leagues, these are both good k/9 guys. And if Nieve would quit walking guys he could post a decent WHIP. Either of these may give you some innings until Colon returns.
Reply:I think your offense is pretty solid.

Your starting pitching is ok, maybe picking up one more Start that will go deep in the season. Your closers are poor, you might want to think of trading for some, offense for a closer maybe?

overall i say you have a middle of a pack team, i if your offense can make strides then you will have a good chance at winning.
Reply:your team looks very solid. sometimes its hard to judge a team b4 the season starts. but considering that injuries dont plague your team im gonna say you'll have a pretty good season with this line-up. i like utley alot. he will carry your team throught out the season. you might wanna look into strengthening your bench players. you dont really need molina. use his bench spot and try to find a good backup for lugo. also i believe its safe to say you can drop shealy. you will need a backup for laroache but i think you'll be able to do better then shealy. definatly look at getting some help in the closing area. look on the waiver for guys like broxton, torres, and mike gonzalez. or you can always trade away for another closer. but i believe at some point during the season, mike gonzalez will take the closing postion from wickman. i watched him pitch the other day against philly and he rocked them pretty good. but other then that i think you will do just fine. good luck!!
Reply:looks good to me. But like you said you need some closers. I would try to trade for one. Use Colon and/or Igawa to try to get another closer.
Reply:You are right to be concerned about your closers. Check the other teams in your league and see how many they have. If all teams are carrying at least three closers, do not be surprised being at the bottom of the food chain in SV's this year. I'll break this down by position with some constructive criticism at the end.

C - Top 3, unless it's Mauer, not going to do much better here.

1B - Decent, some upside here, I would look into if Overbay is available though (went undrafted in a lot of leagues) for backup

2B - You're set.

3B - You're set.

SS - Decent steals and runs, not much else

OF - Pierre - Great steals, Ordonez, Matsui - good four-tools.

Bench - Needs some help.

Pitchers - Another closer would greatly help. Having Sheets as your SP2 means that you're in good shape there. Keep an eye on Colon, Lidge, and Mulder, especially Colon. If Lidge repeats last year, he might not be closing at all.

You can afford to lose most of your bench. Molina, you have Martinez and unless he gets hurt, you'll be fine. Address a weaker area with his roster spot. M. Cabrera will have a tough time finding playing time with competing against Damon, Abreu, and Matsui. Freel makes awesome, jaw-dropping defensive plays and is on ESPN almost every night. Unfortunately, that will not help you win a fantasy league. Shealy looks like a work in progress, but might surprise. I'm just a little gunshy about anyone in KC not named Teahen or Gordon.

Ultimately, it's your team and just my opinions here. I agree with you that you have a nice balance in your batting line-up. I would target another RP and find a power DH for your team. Addressing those two concerns, I believe, will take you towards the bragging rights you get for winning your league. Good luck to you this year.
Reply:Utley in the first Wright in the second, Wrights better of the two
Reply:Looking at your team I must say that I am quite impressed. It is obvious to me that you must be very experienced and possess a great deal of baseball savvy. Your team is among the finest that I have seen this season and I commend you on your choices.

You have assembled a team with a great mix of speed and power, as well as a very solid pitching staff. Although there may be some injury concerns, the depth that you have built into this team is extraordinary. You appear headed to victory and a very satisfying season.

If you haven't done so, I suggest that you look into the possibility of making this more than a hobby. You certainly have some keen insights on the way a baseball team is assembled.

Good Luck
