Reply:i don't miss Alex "the 03 Goat" Gonzalez
Reply:Except for Greg Maddux and Kenny Lofton, my favorites are all still there (Rami, Big Z, Wood). But as for everyone else, they've been replaced with someone I like more.
Reply:Here's what is kind of sad: the fantasy world Cub fan lives in.
Reply:Screw the cubs
Reply:It is sad. That was the year I first started following baseball. The Cubs (and Ron Santo, God help me) were the reason I began loving the sport. That was a fun team to follow, especially when the Yankees came to town in interleague play and got slapped around by those young pitchers.

Still, it's hard not to love the new outfield. Here's hoping for a good year.
Reply:I'm with you on this one. Woody, Carlos and Ramirez are all that are left on the Cubs. Alou and Lofton are about done. Simon, Gonzalez, Clement, and Patterson really flamed out. Prior will never be what he could have been (if that makes sense).

You missed Borowski who is still out there saving games with his 85 mph fastball.

Still, that was a FUN year.
Reply:First, Maddux wasn't with them in 03. The starting rotation was Wood, Prior, Clement, Zambrano and Estes. Maddux joined them in 04. 1B was Karros, Simon was acquired late in the season. Ramirez was also a late addition at 3rd, but I can't remember who started the season there. 03 was in fact a great season with a great team. One of the best baseball seasons I've ever seen. I do miss that team, and it's a shame that they were hit hard with injuries to many key players after that season. They would've been a true force to be reckoned with had they stayed healthy.
